Hello there fellow blog readers!  Here we are at the end of the summer and that means only a few things in my book. Back to school, my Anniversary, and MY BIRTHDAY!!! Now it doesn't get much better than that, does it? This year we are doing something very different. We are going to go camping in the motorhome all by ourselves...First time in 44 years that we will be going by ourselves. I'm not sure how that is going to go...but it is an adventure for sure! Kelly will be busy at the flower shop on Saturday doing the many orders that seems to happen any time I am planning on going away. I think everyone WANTS me to feel especially guilty! LOL!  She will be fine. Big plans to just relax and enjoy the sunshine at poolside for a change.  Everyone have a great Labor Day enjoy the day off and we will see you on Tuesday morning when we have to get back to work! EASTER SURPRISE!

Well, Easter, this year, came as a big surprise. While most years in the past, Easter has been rather lukewarm with unimpressive sales, this year the bunny had a big surprise in store for us. Even though the economy has been less than stellar, our customers made this Easter a phenominal success for us here at Fuller's Floral.

We were flooded with sales on Saturday. Usually the Saturday before Easter is pretty humdrum with a few drop ins for some last minute centerpieces to take to "Mom's" for dinner. This year we opened early and started work at 8:30AM and never quit until the last piece was delivered at 8:30PM. We were BEAT!

Then as if that weren't enough, Easter Monday hit us like a locomotive and the rush continued on until 5PM when we finally closed our doors.

What went on here? Has our economy finally taken an upward turn? Or do you think that possibly the internet sites (for instance 1-800, FTD, Teleflora and all of the other order gatherers) have just disappointed the public one too many times?

I'd like to think that it was the fact that John Q. Public has finally woken up.  He has decided that it is better to trust his hard earned money to someone you can talk to- a business owner in HIS OWN AREA. And that people are supporting their local businesses rather than jumping on the internet to order something at an "unreal" price - just to find out that the price really is UNREAL and you end up paying MORE (with all the fees involved) than you would have if you had called your local florist. And worst of all is the disappointment when the order gatherers don't get it delivered.

I cannot tell you how many "apology" notes go out from these guys  the day after a holiday, but it is A LOT!  Shame on them! :( Don't be one of the people who get these! ORDER LOCAL! Keep your business within your community!

I am happy to report that we were able to take care of each and every one of our customers -because OUR CUSTOMERS COUNT!  We will see them again on Mother's Day, or when there is a birthday, funeral, or special event of celebration. We will be able to look them in the eye because we know that we did our very best to make their holiday as special as we possibly could. So THANKS everybody for making our Easter a great holiday, and here's hoping we did the same for you!

Did you ever know a FRENEMY?  I found out that I had one!  I didn't even know it!!!  What do you do with yours?  I delete mine & never give them another minute of my time...is that a good plan?  I think so!!!  Negative people only tend to spread their rain all over your sunshiney day! Let the sunshine in...like Pebbles & Bam- Bam were preaching it way back in the stone age :)   Thats how I'll proceed folks!  ~What would you do???

So, you just never know from where the next inspiration shall come, HOWEVER, today had the very best time at Beautiful Blooms exhibit.  What a talented artist they presented!  He gave me my mo jo back ;)  Looking forward to playing with some crazy flowers this week!  Hope to post some of my inspiration later this week.  It was also very cool to see a MALE FLORIST who was NOT GAY.  He was good looking, charming & elegant in his design....there should be more like him!!!  ~Maybe I'll raise a few of them :)  Thank me now young ladies!!!

Monday s are always a little slow at a flower shop.  Today we shop for stuff we need, order flowers, walk our dogs, sometimes we even get our nails did....not today though.

This pic of Bryce cracks me up because he looks like a damn hillbilly with no teeth, lol.....meanwhile Chase is to school for cool with his pinewood derby driver's license!!! lol

Well, last night their SELF MADE cars were 2nds and 3rds...sigh.  I wish that my exhusband would just do what the other dads do and MAKE THE CARS FOR THEM and stick on the stickers or something.   He refuses....so, there you have it.  Its like telling a kid its okay to lose, which I totally disagree with....when DID wanting to win and striving to be the best become such a cardinal sin?  Well, not with this mama, next year I shall have the boyfriend make the cars!!!! ~or do it myself....I just want them to have half a chance?!!!  I bet the world will disagree with me....but, there you have it, I like to win!!!

Okay, so yesterday Carol & I stopped by a new diner in Gap, Pennsylvania.  I have to preface this story with a few 'true comments' ~1.  we went the first week they were open and we LOVE IT, fast service great food, fantastic experience.  Well....what a difference a month makes, we go up there at like 9:30am ~totally packed in there!  Word was out, they were doing great things.  Fantastic for them!!!  So we sat down, and guess how many minutes passed before we got so much as a good morning? ~ten.  Ten minutes.  So then ten more go by & no waitress, she had not even come over to take our order.....yup.  We had to GO!!!  So we WENT.  While I was paying for my coffees, I overhear a conversation between a client & the cashier.  ~BASHING another local restaurant owner & the business they do.....WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THAT?  this is the SECOND TIME I'VE BEEN IN THIS PLACE AND THE SECOND TIME I HEARD THE STAFF MAKING DISPARRAGING REMARKS ABOUT ANOTHER LOCAL BUSINESS....my thoughts are this....IF YOU ARE DOING YOUR BEST WORK,  YOU NEED NOT BASH ANOTHER COMPANY.  IT JUST SEEMED LOW CLASS TO ME & WE FEEL IT IS A VERY BAD BUSINESS PRACTICE.....I wondered to myself as I left the restaurant, HOW MANY OTHER CLIENTS WERE THINKING THAT SAME THING?  Will this eventually affect their business in a negative way....I mean, KARMA STATES THAT IF YOU PUT THAT NEGATIVE JUJU OUT THERE, IT WILL MOST DEFINITELY RETURN TO YOU?  What do you guys think?

I'm always doing stuff & forgetting that I wanted to post it.....this one was cute I thought.....I always like to hit a little red in unexpected ways when the opportunity arises....what do you think?  ~guess it depends on your mood....that day I felt like it was a good idea ;)  Lets hope the customer thought so, right?  PS every flower in this arrangement will last about 10 days....except the freakin' rose, which has the shortest life span of any cut flower other than a lily or orchid....those stink too!  Its funny because the more you have to pay for the stem the shorter their life....my thinking is this, its the gift of giving someone something luxurious that is a sure sign that you think they are worth throwing good money away on a stem just to have that 3 to 4 days worth of enjoyment of something so special as a rose...lily or orchid....you know?!  I guess?!  Personally, give me a daisy or a mum or a carnation any day of the week.....what do you guys think?  would you rather have something extravagant for a short time or something hearty for a few weeks maybe?! 

Tonite its off to the Pinewood Derby for this florist!!!  its been a busy week & now I just hope my exhusband has gotten those cars going FAST!!!  I hate to lose....Boyscouts are all....good for you, participate, this mom is like....WIN WIN WIN!!!! ?  ~I don't fit in anywhere with that brand of crazy I know!  ~but still, when did being competitive & wanting to win become a BAD QUALITY?!  Not in this house!  Mama says KNOCK THEM OUT!!!!  lol....js....
